Aklapela: A capella Meets Klapa
From April 5th- 7th Dubrovnik will host some of the finest vocal Klapa groups as part of the second annual Aklapela Festival. The festival’s Artistic Director, Joško Ćaleta, has selected twelve Klapa groups to perform at this year’s event, five female, seven male. Those performing include FA Linđo, Neverin, Čuvite, Čakulone, Dišpet, Subrenum, Kaše and Cambi to name a few.
Aklapela combines a capella singing with traditional klapa songs performed by award winning groups. The beautiful songs of Dalmatia are stripped back allowing the talented singers vocal skills to really shine through when performed a capella in the intimate surroundings of the concert’s two venues.
The Marin Držić theatre in the Old Town will play host to two concerts on the 5th and 6th of April at 8 pm. Tickets priced at 50 and 70 HRK can be purchased from the 25th March at www.ulaznice.hr . A free concert for the people of Dubrovnik will close the festival on Sunday 7th April at the Dominican Monastery in the Old Town at 12 pm.
