Frano Miloš

The International Olive Oil Competition held in New York last week brings competitors from all over the world together to battle it out to be named one of the world’s best olive oils.

Amongst the award winners is Frano Milos, an olive oil and wine producer from Ston just outside of Dubrovnik. His Milos medium blend olive oil received a scoring of 8.5 and a Gold Award winner. The New York International Olive Oil Competition, an annual event, is the largest and most important event of its kind.

Milos competed against 655 other entrants from 22 countries. A judging panel consisting of 15 experts decide on the winners at the International  Culinary Center, with Italy taking the most amount of prizes. The Milos extra virgin olive oil was entered in to the organic medium blend category, for the northern hemisphere.

Upon receiving his gold award Frano expressed his delight, ” The gold award represents a big achievement for us, especially in competition with hundreds of oils from all over the world. The award is conformation that the dalmatian territory, in the right hands, offers invaluable wealth noteworthy by all.”

Olives were one of the motives Milos’ photo exhibition ‘Pelješac Peace’, held at the Zagreb Wine Gourmet Weekend at the  Glipoteteka Museum.
