Croatian Tourist Board’s #SuperBowlCroatia campaign, designed on the occasion of this year’s finals of American Football – NFL, was nominated for the City Nation Place award in the category of ‘Best use of social media’. The award is given for the first time this year with the aim to encourage, attract, promote and encourage economic development of the destinations. Croatian National Tourist Board was nominated in the same category with the Austrian National Tourist Office, ConnectIreland.com, Travel Manitoba and Onlynalon.

Prizes will be awarded at the first City Place Nation Conference on the 5th of November in London. The conference will bring together over 150 representatives of government officials, investors, employees and tourist destination marketing professionals.

For those who don’t know, this year’s SuperBowl marked the game of the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks who fought for the trophy ‘Vince Lombardi’. While two teams with Croatian origins played against each other, Croatian National Tourist Board has recognized the game as an excellent opportunity for promotion. They created a campaign on Twitter ad hoc, and their creative mini campaign has achieved outstanding results in the US market and continued to attractively promote Croatia.
