“Running across the Pelješac Bridge is an indescribable experience! Those who were here will return, and those who haven’t been simply must come and experience it,” were the sentiments of participants in the third edition of the Pelješac Bridge Run, organized by Du Motion in collaboration with Croatian Roads on the eve of Statehood Day.
This time, 330 runners took the opportunity to run 5.5 kilometers across the impressive structure of the Pelješac Bridge, one of the largest bridges in Europe and a symbol of Croatian connectivity. In addition to local runners, participants included enthusiasts from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, as well as the Netherlands, Germany, the USA, and the UK.
The fastest runners this year were Željko Cota (18:18) in the men’s category and Jelena Surjan (22:38) in the women’s category. Cota’s performance set a new course record, beating the previous record by almost two minutes.
“This year’s interest in the race was truly beyond expectations, with all spots filled in less than 24 hours, largely by runners from the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. This is great to see, as we aim to highlight the importance of the Pelješac Bridge for our region with this race,” said Du Motion director Alen Bošković.
The excellent atmosphere before and after the race once again demonstrated why runners enthusiastically embrace this event and why many are already planning their return to the bridge in exactly one year.
