Dubrovnik – the first Croatian stop for the aircraft carrier Cavour

An aircraft carrier Cavour will be moored at the pier 12 Port Gruz (Croatia) from 21st to 24th of November. It is the main point of connection with the city of Dubrovnik. The presence of the Navy’s flagship, a clear representation of modern technology and high professionalism, creates an image of the continuously closer cooperation with the Croatian Navy.
As a confirmation of excellent diplomatic relations between the two countries, guests during the visit of the ship will be the Ambassador of Italy in Croatia – Emanuela D’Alessandro, General Consul of Italy in Rijeka – Renato Cianfarani, other important Italian and local political figures, as well as diplomats and military figures.

Italy and Croatia, as two realities facing the Adriatic Sea from different angles, have chosen the aircraft carrier Cavour to be an exceptional witness of this meeting. It stands for a symbolic bridge connecting the two coasts as a part of an initiative related to the establishment of the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region.

Furthermore, while it is being docked in the port, visitors will be able to tour the magnificent aircraft carrier. The carrier was built in the shipyard Fincantieri with length of 244 meters, width 34, and 544 members of the permanent crew, led by Captain Luca Conti.
